Sleeping z z zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

Seriously don't want to jinx our recent luck by saying anything about Alexi sleeping through the night - but here goes:

Alexi has been sleeping through the night!

Casey, the nutrition coach at BB, heard that we had recently been trying melatonin as Alexi's sleep habits had gotten so erratic, and she suggested that the elimination diet might be calming down her body's system enough for us to take her off melatonin.   So far, Alexi's been off melatonin since last Monday, July 22 - so to date that's 9 nights and counting that she's slept!  We are cautiously excited -- but i'll update later as to any changes...  Please cross your fingers!  Melatonin is a naturally-occurring hormone many parents of autistic children use to help their kids sleep - my research shows that often their bodies don't produce it on their own and need help...  All research mentions that it doesn't hurt to use it as a sleep aid - but it would be sooooo nice if we didn't have to....

UPDATE:  ok so since 7/22 she's woken up around 3am - twice, including last night 8/7 when she went right back to bed.... so that's 2x in 3 weeks for the record...

UPDATE:  woke up 3am again 8/9

UPDATE: woke up 3:30 am again 8/17 AND 8/18

UPDATE: woke and stayed up 2:30am 9/18 - still no melatonin use - still infrequent enough, but making me a bit nuts...

UPDATE:  since school started - a's been up in the middle of the night i'd say about 10 times...  it's hard to deal with...  still not on melatonin again, but we're thinking about what to try next...
